Maintenance
Use and care guidelines for laminate surfaces ( locker doors, filler panels, end panels and counter tops )
Cleaning
Laminate surfaces are easy to clean. Generally, a clean, damp non-abrasive cotton cloth with mild detergent or household cleaner will work the best. For hard to clean areas use a nylon bristled hand brush, using a circular motion. Rinse with clean water, using a clean non-abrasive cotton cloth. Periodic application of a self-cleaning wax can help minimize staining.
The following general purpose cleaners have been tested safe for cleaning high pressure laminates:
- PineSol
- Fantastik
- 409 general purpose cleaner
- Joy
- Dow bathroom cleaner
Special cleaning
For difficult stains apply a paste of baking soda and water on the area to pull out the stain. The paste will be slightly abrasive so do not rub.
Residual glue: A streaky appearance on new laminate may be caused by contact cement used during fabrication. Clean with a non-abrasive cotton cloth and an adhesive solvent such as lacquer thinner or finger nail polish remover.
Paint and varnish: Remove oil based paints with a suitable solvent. Waterbased paints can be removed with an ammoniated household cleaner.
Never use a scouring pad such as steel wool or 3m pads.
Use and care guidelines for interior locker surfaces
The interior of the locker can be cleaned using only non abrasive cleaners such as 409 general purpose cleaner or fantastic cleaner. Do not use water. Also, do not flood the surface, especially near the seams or where shelves intersect the locker sides because it can penetrate and cause the substrate to swell. Some marks can be removed with a nonabrasive white pencil eraser ( do not bear down on eraser, use caution )
